If you don’t know Linda Shelton @lindasheltonfitness we know you have certainly seen or been influenced by her amazing work. For 23 years, she was Fitness Director for Weider/AMI women’s fitness publications, including @SHAPE Magazine, @naturalhealthmag and Fit Pregnancy. She’s also the former Fitness Director at #VIVmag, a digital women’s lifestyle and fitness magazine, breaking ground in technology driven, online only, magazine content.
Linda has produced, directed and/or choreographed over 1000 fitness DVDs, co-produced four award-winning television fitness shows and authored eight books, including Shape Magazine’s Ultimate Body Book (2006).
In March, 2018, Linda was the recipient of the ‘Founding Mother Award,’ in recognition from @wifaassociation WIFA-Women in Fitness Association as one of the six women honored to have ‘birthed the fitness industry.’
Linda is Founder and President of her three companies: Professional Fitness Services, a consulting and program development firm; @rescapewellness, a consumer fitness and resource wellness business for the 50+; and SOULjourn, a multimedia production company. Former Chief Content Development Officer and Producer/Director for @WELLBEATS™, technology-driven fitness and wellness programming for 6 ½ years.
She is currently the Executive Creative Producer of the Digital Strategy Team for American Specialty Health @ashcompanies, driving On Demand and Online Live classes for @silverandfit adult programming 65+ and we asked her to tell us all about it.
Linda designed the online content for the Silver and Fit program, and like gym classes, the online program is covered by Medicare. FREE classes are available on FB @silverandfitfit and at siilverandfit.com There are 54 classes, 9 a day for 6 days. The 20 instructors are internationally known and experts in fitness.
Linda’s advice for Aging Enthusiastically is to:
– Do something you want to do!
– Do a self assessment when you get up – say I planned to do___ but my body feels like doing_____IT’S OK! You need to clue in to what drives you.
– Think about what you need to stay healthy, flexible, mobile and stable to reduce and prevent falls and injuries.
