Lisa Dougherty is the founder of the MedFit Network (MFN), the MedFit Education Foundation (MFEF) and is committed to improving lives, especially those with health challenges or suffering from chronic disease. Her mission is to improve the quality of life for the aging population, and those with chronic diseases/medical conditions by connecting them to fitness & healthcare professionals with an interest and background in these populations, AND to facilitate and expand education for professionals to learn how to best work with these populations. She has been featured in the Huffington Post and was acknowledged by the Obama Whitehouse as a 2016 Champion of Change.
Lisa founded MedFit Network in 2013 because she was trying to solve a problem. Prior to founding the company she specialized in medical fitness and chronic disease and people from all over the country reached out to her for referrals. She saw a need for a national directory so people could find help in their individual cities. Lisa created a database of fitness and healthcare providers for what used to be called “special populations” but now is relevant to almost everyone.
Go to the MedFit Network site and “search button” to find all the fitness and healthcare pros available to you on the network. There are 50 webinars a year and MedFit seminars are free, there is a blog to learn more about health issues. Great resources. Great webinars. People who can help.
Lisa’s prescription for “Aging Enthusiastically” is movement, diet, sleep, meditation, lifestyle and community. Her advice to think about your playspan rather than your lifespan is smart!
